Victor & Donna Cannillo honored at non-profit gala

A 60-second read by Victoria Cannillo:  Baron Financial Group is pleased to recognize Victor & Donna Cannillo as the honorees of the 2023 Spectrum for Living Gala: Family, Community & Our Spectrum Heroes. The gala event took place on October 12, 2023, at Macaluso’s in Hawthorne, NJ.  A great time was had by all with casino night games, raffles, and silent auction items. This year marks Spectrum for Living’s 40th anniversary.  Their mission is “to enable individuals who have developmental and/or physical disabilities to have the opportunity to attain their highest level of skills, purpose and independence with dignity through an ongoing commitment to comprehensive quality services, advocacy and family partnership.” 

Donna and Victor were very humbled by this recognition and wanted to use the occasion to say a huge thank you to the Spectrum staff for their unwavering commitment to continue to make Spectrum for Living a great place for all.  Over the years, they have met so many outstanding people in the Spectrum organization, including staff members, founders, board members, clients, and their families. Spectrum’s vision of a community of respect, equality, and dignity for people of all abilities has always resonated with them and one they have dedicated themselves to uphold. 

The Cannillos have been involved with Spectrum essentially since its inception. Donna’s brother Vincent has been a resident for 39 years, and Donna has served as a Board Trustee since 2007, currently as vice chairperson. She is one of the co-founders of Spectrum’s sibling group and serves on five other committees as well. 

Through Victor’s relationship with his brother-in-law, he was made aware of the many challenges associated with those with developmental disabilities and their families. It led him to become not only active in the special needs community but to commit to assisting those families plan for their financial needs through his work as a Fiduciary, Fee-Only Advisor at Baron Financial Group.
