Baron Financial Group is proud to announce that Nicholas Scheibner, a Financial Planner with the firm, has recently passed the Certified Financial Planner® exam. An alumnus from the William Paterson University Financial Planning Program, Nick is a candidate for the CFP® designation, having completed the Certified Financial Planner® coursework at the Wayne, New Jersey University, and then passing the rigorous CFP® exam given by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., in March, 2012.
While a student at William Paterson University, Nick was part of the winning team that took first place in the National Financial Planning Challenge at the National Financial Planning Association (FPA) conference in Denver, Colorado in the fall of 2010.
The team was one of eight finalists flown to Denver for the three day final phase of the contest, where they competed in a Jeopardy style knowledge bowl, and had thirty-six hours to adjust their financial plan after a “life-changing event” occurred in the life of their sample client. Their winning plan was judged by a group of professors and professionals at the conference. Many hours were spent developing the initial plan that qualified them for the trip to Denver, by team members Scheibner, Nathan Phillips and Cagla Yildirim (all students in business administration, with a concentration in financial planning, in William Paterson’s Cotsakos College of Business). Scheibner, who started the first student chapter of the FPA in the country, focused on the investment part of the challenge.
Nick is a vital and supportive member of the financial planning team at Baron Financial Group in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. “Our firm has been extremely lucky to have found Nick and clients and co-workers alike have been impressed with both his professionalism and financial expertise. He is a positive addition to our team”, says Victor Cannillo, Partner and Wealth Management Principal at Baron Financial Group.
